Joe Torre to the New York Mets: Would It Alter the Manager’s Legacy?
Joe Torre is as New York as Broadway and the Meatpacking District combined. He’s an Italian man that was born there, played there, managed there, earned his fame and fortune there, became a champion there, and damn if he ain’t going to die there, too. When Torre bolted from New York—perhaps not voluntarily—after bringing the Yankees six American League pennants and four World Series titles in 12 …

New York Mets Reader Q&A

Question by rightguardman09: How far will the New York Mets go in the 2007 MLB playoffs?
I am a big admirer of the New York Mets. Omar Minaya and Willie Randolph, along with the rest of the cast, have brought a newfound respect to the organization. I feel that even though they’ve been injury plagued this year, they have played hard and battled all season, and I think that’s been overlooked.

So my question is, if they can stay healthy, how far will the New York Mets go in the 2007 post season? And why?

one round and out

Considering how many times they’ve choked since the Curse of Kevin Mitchell began after the 1986 season, they’ll be lucky to make it at all. I still see the Phillies coming back to win the Division and the Mets missing the Playoffs completely.

Think there’s no curse? Then explain the ’88 NLCS loss to the vastly inferior Dodgers, a decade of mediocrity at best, dropping the last 5 games of ’98 to miss the Playoffs by one game, Kenny Rogers walking home a Pennant-winning run in ’99, losing to THE YANKEES in five games in 2000, another strip of mediocrity, and losing the ’06 Pennant on a homer by the third Molina brother and a called third strike on the supposedly great Carlos Beltran. The Mets are cursed.

they wont make it

Ebay was the only place I found to get them. The auction in the link below has 11 of them for about $ 12 each including shipping.

Question by fal8383: What’s the best option to travel from Times Square to the New York Mets stadium?
What’s the best option to travel from Times Square to the New York Mets stadium (Roosevelt Ave, New York), and how much would it cost me?

Thanks a lot!

Answers:

Answer by harry k
Take the 7 Subway line. It’s cost you $ 2.00.

Answer by Jay
Take the subway, 7 train to Queens. The stop at the stadium is called Mets/Willets Point Station.

Answer by Native New Yorker
Take the #7 train (Purple Line on the subway map) from Times Square to Mets-Willest Point (formerly Willest Points-Shea Stadium). The fare on the subway is $ 2 each way ($ 4 round trip). However, if you traveling to the CitiField on or after June 28th, please note the fare will go to $ 2.25 one way ($ 4.50 round trip).

If you’re going to a night game, I would recommend taking the #7 express train from Times Square to Mets-Willest Point. The train runs express from Queensboro Plaza to Willest Point, stopping at Woodside-61st Street, Junction Blvd and Mets-Willest Point.

Another option to get to Citifield is by taking the LIRR’s Port Washington Branch from Penn Station. The one way peak fare on the Port Washington Branch will cost you $ 6.50, while the off peak fare will cost you $ 4.50.

I hope this information is very helpful.

Good luck

As long as they dont have to face St Louis, they should make it to the big dance.

  2. Squirrel_is_a_yankeefan says:

They will lose to whoever the AL Champ is in the World Series.

  3. J-Far says:

    World series or bust.

  4. The Enforcer says:

Due to the age of their starters Pedro, Glavine, and Hernandez along the bull pen being somewhat shaky as of late I would have to say, they will go as far as their bats can carry them.

  5. David Wright Chick says:

im a huge met fan to, but i have faith in them, and my hubby david wright sooo i think they will make it pretty far… hopefully!

  6. stiggo629 says:

Since you added the “if healthy” qualifier, that’s how I’ll answer this. If they’re healthy, they should have no problem winning the pennant. They have the most balance in terms of hitting and pitching of anyone in the NL. Yes, their staff is not dominant, but it is solid. Their bullpen hasn’t been performing well lately, but there’s no reason to say they can’t get back to where they were for the playoffs. The lineup may not be as fearsome as Philadelphia or Milwaukee, but they’re not pushovers, plus they have the added weapon of speed. Then, since there is really no dominant team in the AL, it would not surprise me to see them win the whole thing.

  7. Elaine S says:

The mets should be able to go all the way to the world series as long as they remain healthy.
