NFL Preseason Starts Tonight

Published on August 11, 2011 by   ·   No Comments

Are you ready for some football? I’m pretty sure that every NFL fan is going to be excited for the preseason for the first time ever. After we came close to losing part or all of the season in the NFL lockout, it is going to be fun to finally get to watch some football; even if it really doesn’t mean much overall.

Of course, this time around is very important to the NFL teams. This year because of the lockout, the NFL teams got a whole two weeks of training camp to get ready. What you are likely to see is that the veteran teams that didn’t change much in the way of personnel or coaches are going to have a much easier time getting ready for Week 1 then teams that had to shake things up over the lockout. I do believe that some NFL teams aren’t going to be completely ready for the season to start in one month.

There is going to be one preseason football game on nationally nightly for tonight, Friday, Saturday and Monday night. The first game that everyone can watch will be the San Diego Chargers at home against the Seattle Seahawks on ESPN. On Friday night, Fox is showing the game between the Buccaneers and the Chiefs. The NFL network is showing the Packers vs Browns on Saturday night and the Monday Night game features the Jets and Texans.

We are now less than a month away from the first game of the 2011 NFL regular season. The first game starts on Thursday night, September 8th and features the Green Bay Packers at home against the New Orleans Saints. The first Sunday of the regular season falls on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. The first week of the regular season is also the only week to feature 2 Monday Night Football games.

Preseason Football

Once people get over the thrill of finally seeing football again, things will mostly be quite for the next month. Most people who don’t have an interest in Fantasy Football or a die hard gambler are not going to be really interested in the NFL Preseason save the fans rooting for their own teams. The problem with preseason football is that the starters will usually only play the first half of a game. This makes betting on the preseason even more problematic than most other games.

However, if you are looking for a place to bet on your favorite team this preseason. I would suggest the you bet on the NFL at Bodog.

The only other thing to really look out for in the preseason are the key injuries that happen. One such key injury that has already affected a team is the Detroit Lions 2nd round draft pick running back Mikel Leshoure. He was supposed to be the short down back, but is lost for the year with an Achilles tendon injury. This seems to be a more vulnerable time of year than usual because of the lack of off-season workouts and mini-camps. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot more injuries because of the lockout.
