What Is a Sports Betting Line?

The Odds, Money Line or Point-Spread Placed on a Certain Game

sports-betting-linesA sports betting line normally refers to the odds, money line or point-spread placed on a certain game. You must remember that wagering on sports is very much like ordering food. The menu is placed in front of you, with all of the different options and prices.

The prices would be the equivalent to the sports betting line, and the food would be the team and the type of bet. On the Internet, finding full betting odds at a sports betting website and placing a bet is so simple a process that it never fails to surprise first-time bettors.

Since a sports betting line represents the odds that are given on a particular game, these lines are directly related to the amount of money that you could possibly win off these games.

For example, a sports betting line is expressed in terms of points, money, or a mathematical ratio.

Take a money line for example. A money line is a straight wager that gives odds to the favorite and takes odds when betting on the weaker team or underdog.

For example, a money line for the Atlanta Falcons versus the Detroit Lions is 9 to 5. With Atlanta as the favorite, you would have to place $9 to win $5 on Atlanta or $5 to win $9 on Detroit. Do not forget that the sportsbook gets its piece of the action as well.

When shopping for a good sports betting line, remember to make sure that it is up to date and dependable.

Use the Internet to keep up to date with the latest sports betting news, including Super Bowl betting and all of the pertinent information for your sports wagering at webpages like http://www.superbowl360.com/prop-bets.php. A complete sportsbook, with articles and other sports betting resources might the best idea for gathering information the next time you feel like putting a little more emotion into your sports action viewing.

My Friend, Howie G.

An Expert at Every Game

Howie drove a cab for years in Vegas and can tell stories by the hour of the characters that had the privilege of riding with him. Naturally a lot of these visitors relate to Howie about systems they have that will bring Vegas to its knees.

He smiles because he knows. Days later, these same people were back in his cab, lamenting the fact that everything was against them, the dice were shaved, cards marked, magnets on roulette wheels (it’s a plastic ball) and most of all, God hates and made them lose.

Howie G. just smiles, he’s heard it all before. He is an expert at every game, a card counter, aware of every plus or minus factor for all pro and college sports and has the discipline to back up these attributes.

I always get a kick out of having breakfast or lunch with and let him outmaneuver me for the check (he always manages to win, but then I’m slowing down, reaching the senile stage).

Anyhow, after he manages to wrestle the check from my slippery fingers, I agree to leave the quarter tip (sometimes three dimes).
